Which file formats work best when printing game models? I often get OBJ or FBX files, but sometimes they need conversion before my printer accepts them.

Well, I’ve been there - getting an OBJ or FBX that looks perfect on screen, only to have my printer throw an error because it wants watertight STL or 3MF. After testing a bunch, I’ve found that the best 3d printer files for reliability are usually STL (simple, universal) or 3MF (saves color and supports without extra headaches). OBJ works too, but I always run it through a quick repair to catch non-manifold edges. FBX is great for animation but overkill for static prints. And honestly? If a model comes as STEP or AMF, those are gold for precision, but most hobby printers don’t take them directly. My advice: stick with STL/3MF for printing, but keep the original OBJ/FBX in case you need to edit. Conversion is normal - don’t let it frustrate you. Just check your printer’s spec sheet first.
